NAME: Hilary Rhoda
BIO: American Model best known for her work with Estee Lauder and appearances in multiple Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues.
OCCUPATION: American Model
Who was your inspiration to pursue your dreams?
It's funny, I wasn't really too into modeling, fashion and that whole world until I was a little bit older. I started when I was 15, but before that I was really athletic. I played field hockey, lacrosse and I was a swimmer--so it was totally a new thing. It wasn't until I started getting into it, I was looking through magazines and I would see Eva Herzigova and Cindy Crawford and those were women I would look up to.
What are you wearing right now?
Kaufman Franco jumpsuit, jewelry by Jennifer Fisher, bag by Rebecca Minkoff
What has been one of your biggest career challenges? How did you overcome it?
A few years after I started modeling I wasn't playing sports anymore, my body started changing and I didn't really have a workout or something that would make me want to go back--I tried a few things but really wasn't into it. So making that transition and finding what works for my body later on has really helped me and I've been doing SoulCycle for the last 5 years and it takes a lot of pressure off having to worry about an audition coming up, diet or juice and all this crazy stuff that you're really not meant to do. It's being able to maintain a healthy image and body shape and that mentality has really helped me in the last few years for sure. So I think that's important--to maintain it and not have to crash and do diet supplements.
What is one of your greatest defining moments within the industry?
Everything, there were a lot of defining moments. My first job ever was so cool and then doing my first show in Paris really started everything rolling, my Estee Lauder campaign, being on the cover of Vogue--there are a lot of great moments.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Sometimes I'm too nice and if you are the boss of yourself, you kind of have to put your foot down sometimes and I have a lot of trouble doing that. So my family tells me to not be afraid to put my foot down sometimes because that's hard for me to do.
