What has been one of your biggest career challenges? How did you overcome it?
Getting my foot in the door. Becoming a TV Host—or breaking into any career in entertainment—is difficult with so many people wanting to be in the industry. The opportunities I’ve gotten that have really opened doors for me were because I started by working for free. I was never too good for any job. Even if the pay was low, I would take it. It was humbling and worth every minute.
What is one of your greatest defining moments within the industry?
Hosting from the red carpet of the Academy Awards. I never thought so early in my career I would get to work the Oscars. It’s by far one of my happiest moments as a TV host.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Always ask! The worst that can happen is someone says “no.” This has been the best piece of advice I’ve gotten because you truly never know until you try. Often I thought someone would tell me no to certain opportunities, but the answer came back “YES.” I would never be where I am without taking those risks.
