Simply Stylist LA 2016 Recap
The Simply Stylist ‘Do What You Love’ Los Angeles Fashion and Beauty Conference presented by CITI and The Grove took place over the weekend and, to no surprise, it was more amazing than we ever thought possible! To say that this day was jam packed with invaluable opportunities is a complete understatement! Attendees arrived from cities near and far to take in the good vibes and network with brands, panelists, and fellow fashionistas for a day filled with amazing speakers, brands, and new faces. Before we dive into it, here are '10 Tips We Took From Simply Stylist LA'.
Although we could easily go over every small detail that made this Saturday as amazing as it was, we can hardly find the words to do it justice. So, in case you’re already having #SimplyStylistLA withdrawals, check out our moment-by-moment recap that details every memorable thing that made the Simply Stylist 2016 Los Angeles Fashion and Beauty Conference a success! Also, a huge THANK YOU to our fabulous Host, Catt Sadler, who hosted the entire day and looked amazing doing it!
PANEL 1: Expert Panel Moderated by Adrianna Costa, our expert/entrepreneur panel included Entrepreneur and Designer Lilly Ghalichi, Morgan Stewart of Boobs and Loubs, and Style Expert Louise Roe! If you couldn’t already tell, we had A LOT of personality on stage for this panel, but it couldn’t have turned out better! The panelists’ diverse backgrounds provided everyone with invaluable advice on being an entrepreneur, qualities they look for in a new hire, how to (properly) kill people with kindness, and the importance of keeping in contact with people you meet along the way!
“Having confidence in yourself is what will truly make you successful.” – Lilly Ghalichi
“I think it's great that in this day and age, women can really create a career that suits them.” — Louise Roe
PANEL 2: Blogger Panel The blogger panel was up next, which included Kaitlynn Carter of Western Wild and Foray Collective, video and lifestyle blogger Carly Cristman, Teni Panosian of Miss Maven, and Geri Hirsch of Because I’m Addicted! Our wonderful moderator, Lauren Gores of You & Lu, guided the discussion and if we learned anything from this amazing group of Boss Babes, it’s that blogging is a lot of hard work, but the effort definitely pays off! Patience is key!
“Figure out what platform works for you and focus on that and be the best on that platform.” Geri Hirsch
“If you build it, they will come.” — Teni Panosian
LUNCH TIME! Attendees took a break from their day of learning to feast on a delicious lunch provided by Morel's! Each patron received a special gift from Kendra Scott, listened to Caitlyn Crosby of The Giving Keys speak, and enjoyed scrumptious California Donuts off of our donut wall!
PANEL 3: Stylist Panel Do you love styling? We do, which is why we were thrilled to have our stylist panel include Celebrity Hair Stylist Scotty Cunha, Erica Hoida of Fashioned|Chic, and moderator Sydne Summer of Sydne Style! These style experts have had their ups and downs in the industry, so they were able to educate our attendees on the do’s and don’ts of styling, answer any and all burning questions, and put their two-sense into what it takes to become a successful stylist!
“You really have to be confident and realize that it is important to take time for yourself.” — Scotty Cunha
PANEL 4: Keynote Speaker — Tyra Banks She’s fierce, she’s fabulous, and she was our incredible Keynote Speaker! Tyra Banks definitely made an entrance into #SimplyStylistLA and educated our attendees on her story, things she’s learned along the way, and gave advice on what she wished she knew when she was first starting out! From starting out as a model to her success with America’s Next Top Model, Tyra loves expanding the definition of beauty, so it’s no surprise she also had her recently launched beauty line, Tyra Beauty, join us in the Brand Experience!
“Don't be scared to do things that you never have.” — Tyra Banks
The Brand Experience The Brand Experience took over the park at The Grove for some shopping, relaxation, pampering, and delicious desserts! Here, all of our ticket holders got the opportunity to get their hair, makeup, or nails done by The Glam App, receive a fashion illustration by Leonides Garcia, take pictures of their #OOTD with FotoFWD, shop Kendra Scott’s merchandise, ogle at Lily + Jasper’s adorable collection, get celebrity looks for less with Want My Look, sip on delicious cocktails from H2Rose, have a consultation with eSalon, take pictures in front of a flower wall provided by The Flower Chef, Carly Cylinder, browse through Minted’s amazing décor, relax in Living Spaces’ lounge, transform their photos with Perfect365, get a sugar fix with Rumbundctious Cakes, and feast on snacks from SkinnyPop! Phew, that’s a lot! We can’t thank all of our brands enough for coming together and creating a Brand Experience for the books!
Breakout Sessions This year’s Breakout Sessions educated interested attendees all about the ins and outs of the fashion, beauty, and digital worlds. We enlisted Erin Armstrong from The Accounting Sage to talk finances, Calli Cholodenko to give a brief overview on social media, Kristen Philipkoski from IFB to educate attendees on evolving their blogs like a boss, the Mane Addicts team gave a crash course on turning your vision into a reality, and Sophie Elkus of AngelFoodStyle wrapped everything up with a course on Blogging 101! Each Breakout Session provided an up close and personal experience for every attendee and really gave them the opportunity to take these real world insights and apply them toward their dream careers!
“If you know who your audience is, you have more negotiating power.” — Erin Armstrong
“Maintaining a consistent aesthetic is important for any blogger.” — Kristen Philipkoski
