I’m excited to be sharing my ‘Stylish Sips’ with you where I’ll be meeting with top trendsetters in the fashion and beauty industry. Follow along to get weekly ‘Stylish Sips’ interviews from me! This week I’m sitting down with South African sweetheart Anita Patrickson. She’s one of the most influential celebrity stylists in Los Angeles with some of the best dressed clients in fashion ranging from Dancing With The Stars cutie Julianne Hough to Harry Potter’s Emma Watson. Patrickson was raised in South Africa, educated in London, and has traveled extensively gaining experience across a multitude of cultures and lifestyles, which has aided her eclectic and individual fashion aesthetic.
Shortly after she planted her roots in the celebrity capital of the world, Los Angeles, Conde Nast secured her as the Assistant West Coast Editor for Allure magazine. She went on to help style celebrities covers such as Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Katherine Heigl to name a handful.
Following Conde Nast, Anita broke away to pursue her freelance career. She dresses celebrities ranging from Emma Watson and Julianne Hough to Emmy Rossum, Rachel Bilson, Nina Dobrev, Chanel Iman, Taylor Kitsch and Chris Colfer and also regularly styles the covers and editorial pages of Elle, Instyle, Vanity Fair, Esquire, Glamour and more.
To date, Anita has branched into television, film and commercials, working with brands and on successful campaigns such as The Vampire Diaries, Target Covergirl, Nike, Pantene, Proactiv, AG Jeans, Rolex as well as with big networks and studios like Paramount, Warner Brothers and the CW Network.
In 2014 Anita was one of the hosts for the Samsung Billboard Music Awards 2014 Red Carpet Live Show as well as appearing on E! doing the red carpet pre show for the Oscars. Anita appears regularly on America’s Next Top Model, Access Hollywood, Popsugar and E!. She has also hosted various design and style shows like ‘Designer Spotlight’ as well as representing big brands like Target in their ‘Back to School’ campaigns.
Anita is also a spokesperson for Harper’s Bazaar and a curator on OpenSky.

Who was your inspiration to pursue your dreams?
I have the most amazingly supportive and long suffering parents who, if at all possible, don’t believe in being miserable in one’s job.

What has been one of your biggest career challenges? How did you overcome it?
I think one of my biggest challenges was to believe in myself and not to second guess everything because I saw other amazing stylists do such gorgeous work. Just to march to the beat of my own drum and not to try and copycat anyone else. Your biggest asset is your own uniqueness.
What is one of your greatest defining moments within the industry?
Seeing my first magazine cover on a stand whilst walking through the airport by myself to catch a flight.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Be nice to everyone, never be afraid to fail and take responsibility and be accountable for your actions.
Beauty product you can’t leave the house without?
What’s your signature scent?
Santa Maria Novella Rose Water. ?I always smell of because I use it as a toner on my face as well as spraying my linen with it.
