Tell us the story behind your favorite wardrobe item
Vanessa: My favorite wardrobe item is a Marc Jacobs Collection cocktail dress that I got at Decades Two. My mom picked it out from the rack and pushed me to try it on. I told her I would never wear it, but after trying it on, saw that it was one of the most beautiful dresses. It was unique & girly yet sexy. Right up my alley. Lessoned learned: my mom knows what she's talking about. She has great taste and she has actually influenced me a lot as far as style and taste.
What’s your most memorable ‘panic moment’?
Vanessa: I was working at GQ Magazine in New York. It was after midnight and another assistant and I were bringing wardrobe back to the office from a big shoot. We were so exhausted and were struggling to pull a wobbly rack of clothes through a doorway, when her side of the rack collapsed on her head, causing some really scary bleeding and a call to 911. Thankfully she was ok, after a staple to the head.
How did you recover from is gracefully?
Vanessa: We were all able to laugh about the situation the next day.
What is your favorite era for fashion?
Vanessa: 1970s. That era influences and inspires me the most.
What was your big break?
Vanessa: Getting a job at GQ Magazine working under legendary creative director, Jim Moore.
Whose closet would you most like to raid?
Vanessa: I would love to raid Alexa Chung's closet.

Vanessa: Alexander Wang, The Row, Acne, Margiela.
