A Conversation with Amelian Kashiro: Fashion Stylist

Amelian is the style eye for Catt Sadler on E! News, a consultant for Zack Tate who styles Keri Hilson and a personal stylist for private clients.

Tell us the story behind your favorite wardrobe item

Amelian: My favorite items would have to be my Leonard of Paris dresses. The first one I ever got was from a small thrift store in Anchorage, Alaska (where I am from) when I was 18. I remember being really excited and intrigued by it, not even understanding anything about the label at the time. I just knew I had never seen anything like it! The funny thing is when I brought it home and showed my mother and father they both told me it was Leonard and started telling me about how special the dress was and they knew about the designer. I didn't think my parents would know much about it. At that moment I was hooked and look for it everytime I thrift.

What's your most memorable 'panic moment'?

Amelian: I haven't had one yet. Knock on wood! I am pretty chill when it comes to work. I don't think freaking out gets anything accomplished properly.

What is your favorite era for fashion?

Amelian: I love the early 90's and 80's.

What was your big break?

Amelian: Getting hired to style for E! News after assisting for so long was quite a sigh of relief. It's a great job with great people.

Whose closet would you most like to raid?

Amelian: Shala Monroque!!

Who are your favorite designers?

Amelian: I love KTZ, Leonard Of Paris, Proenza Schouler, Rag and Bone, Jeremy Scott, Christopher Kane, I love love vintage especially.
