Can you believe the Simply Stylist 'Do What You Love' Chicago 2016 Fashion & Beauty Conference is less than a week away!? We can’t wait to see everyone’s smiling faces for a day filled with networking, panels, and valuable learning opportunities. We have an incredible lineup of panelists ready to take on the Windy City, but before we get ahead of ourselves, we would like to introduce one of our #GirlBoss panelists, Helen Berkun! _MG_2119-vi

This girl does it all! Helen is a fashion photographer, stylist, creative director, blogger, shoe collector, and mother! With over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, she has done everything from editorial, to advertising, to photography, to celebrity styling, and even to commercial print — whew, that’s a lot. Helen is very familiar with the complications that come along with being a working mother... but how does she do it?!

Helen has 3 pieces of advice for maintaining a work-life balance, check them out below! (Hint: It’s all about timing!)

1. Set a date/time for everything. Because I don’t always work from home and bounce around between photo shoots in studios and on locations. These typically can take anyplace between 40 minutes away to out of town. It gets crazy and hectic and so I tend to schedule things out two to three weeks in advance.

2. Keep track of your schedule. Scheduling my life is everything. Whether it’s kid’s activities, meetings, blog shoots, etc., everything goes into my iCal and most of the time I will share it with my husband to keep my family life running smooth, cause after all that’s the most important part.

3. Designate a ‘catch-up’ day. I’m extremely organized, my life is so chaotic that keeping track of everything is key! I try to have a work day once a week from my home office to catch up on billing, blogging, and emails. If I’m on set for weeks at a time, I tend to work on the blog, billing, and emails at night (either from my hotel room or while the kids are a sleep).
