Blogger of the Week: Nikki Minton
It's that time again! Today's Blogger of the week is as sweet as a Georgia peach...even though she's from Louisiana. Meet Nikki, the creator of My Style Diaries. Nikki has been a Cali dweller for many years, but her Southern charm shines through her polished style and down-to-earth vibe. We just love her! Nikki is also a friend of our founder, Sarah, from the Target campaign (along with last weeks blogger, Nash Messina of Fabulatina). #SquadGoals! Read on for a little more about Nikki and her favorite things!
When it comes to clothing and accessories (the latter in particular), I am, in a word: obsessed. In my fashion-focused world, each day is an outfit that must be planned. In preparation magazines are scoured; blogs are stalked; celebrities are critiqued; and girlfriends are consulted. For every event in my life, big and small, I plan, re-plan and perhaps over-analyze every aspect of what I will be wearing. One day while discussing what to wear for an upcoming Girls’ Night Out, I realized that so many budding fashionistas may have their own style conundrums and no one to care (or at least to tell them that leopard hot pants are not the best idea when meeting his mother). In my zealous efforts to beautify the world (you can thank me later), My Style Diaries was created.
Born and raised in Southern Louisiana, I moved to California in 2006 to pursue an education and career in fashion. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2009, I spent two years as a fashion publicist at a boutique PR firm in Beverly Hills. Through working with various celebrity and editorial stylists as well as bloggers during my time as a publicist, I fell in love with the worlds of styling and blogging, and wanted to find a way to combine the two. I view My Style Diaries as an online resource for real women who are looking to dress to impress and believe that the luxury of a personal stylist should not be reserved for celebrities alone.
Aden + Anais Soothing Ointment - I use this for everything: chapped lips, cuts, burns, irritated or really dry skin, you name it. It’s thick, super moisturizing, and smells amazing.
Free People Denim Shorts - In the summer I live in denim cutoffs, and this pair from Free People is my current go-to. I love that they're distressed and I always size up so they fit a little looser.
Batiste Dry Shampoo - I have thin hair that tends to get oily quickly, so I make sure that I never run out of dry shampoo. This blonde version from Batiste is also great for hiding roots between highlights.
Ripley Rader Jumpsuits - I’m such a sucker for a good jumpsuit and Ripley Rader jumpsuits are as good as it gets. I have three of them and wear one anytime I’m stumped on what to wear to an event. Plus, how good is this sequin one?
Ray-Ban Aviators - Anyone who knows me or who’s ever been to my blog really will probably notice that I’m rarely without sunglasses, and aviators are my hands-down favorites. I bring my Ray-Ban pair with me pretty much everywhere.
