Q&A with Celebrity Stylist Anita Patrickson:
Who was your inspiration to pursue your dreams?
I have the most amazingly supportive and long suffering parents who, if at all possible, don’t believe in being miserable in one’s job.
What has been one of your biggest career challenges? How did you overcome it?
I think one of my biggest challenges was to believe in myself and not to second guess everything because I saw other amazing stylists do such gorgeous work. Just to march to the beat of my own drum and not to try and copycat anyone else. Your biggest asset is your own uniqueness.
What is your favorite shoe of all time?
My favorite shoe of all time is a pair of espadrilles. My boyfriend is the co-owner of Soludos and when we first met four years ago he gave me a pair on our second date that I wore 'til they basically fell apart. I love Soludos and wear them on an almost daily basis, but this pair in particular is very special to me.
My second favorite pair of shoes that I absolutely love are a pair that I bought for myself as a present after I had been on tour for Harpers Bazaar for two months: A pair of really fun black and white Valentino booties.
What is one of your greatest defining moments within the industry?
Seeing my first magazine cover on a stand whilst walking through the airport by myself to catch a flight.
What are your 3 best strengths?
Tenacious, Resourceful, Optimistic
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Be nice to everyone, never be afraid to fail and take responsibility and be accountable for your actions.
Life mantra?
There are 3 things in life that are important: 1) Be kind 2) Be kind and 3) Be kind. – Henry James
