Sarah Boyd's Decorist Backyard Transformation
When our Simply Stylist Founder, Sarah Boyd, and her husband moved into their new home in the NoHo Arts District last June, decorating was out of the question. Not only were they overwhelmed with the amount of stuff they needed to relocate, but Sarah was also pregnant with her now 8 month-old, Ava! Although she wanted nothing more than to get settled in before the baby’s arrival, time flies when you’re moving AND pregnant, which is why the décor for their new backyard got put on the backburner... Until now!

Since Sarah’s former residence had very limited yard space, this project presented an exciting challenge to start from scratch and design a completely new yard from the ground up. So, she called in the experts at Decorist to create an outdoor space fit for entertaining guests around the focal point of the backyard, the pool. Sarah was immediately paired with one of Decorist’s Elite Designers, Simone Howell, who collaborated with Sarah throughout the entire process VIRTUALLY. That’s right, Simone never left Texas and Sarah stayed right here in LA — pretty impressive, right?
Pulling from Sarah’s dreams of having a crisp, fresh backyard, Simone got to work and designed a glamorous Bohemian yard worthy of a magazine spread. Simone used indoor accent pieces to complement the outdoor furniture and even incorporated a few vintage finds to match the chic aesthetic of Sarah’s house.
