CURRENTLY COVETING: LEATHER - LILLIANA VAZQUEZ
Leather is one of Fall 2012's biggest trends and we're totally obsessed! We recently sat down with Lilliana Vazquez while she was touring with the Marshall's Fabulous Found Fashion Tour at Hollywood & Highland this past week and it turns out she's loving leathers just as much as we are. SS: What fall trend are you 'Currently Coveting'? Lilliana: Anything and everything leather! I'm loving what I like to call "daytime leather". Most people think of leather as a night look since it's so formal. I like mixing leather with casual pieces to make it more daytime appropriate. Like a trenchcoat with leather sleeves or some ox-blood leather leggings.
SS: What are some good tips for transitioning some of your summer faves into your fall wardrobe? Lilliana: Layering is a perfect way to bring some of those summer pieces into the fall. Pairing one of your favorite sun dresses with some tights or even a cute coat works great. It's also fun to mix color palettes. Mix those richer, deeper, fall colors with those vibrant brights you wore all summer.
SS: Your blog, www.CheapChicas.com, is all about redefining the word 'cheap'. How would you like to see this word used in the future? Lilliana: If I could redefine the word 'cheap' I would want it to mean "smart shopper". I think that everybody works so hard for their money and I think that it's wasteful to spend it when there are so many ways to be on trend for less. I'm proud to be cheap and I'm cheap about everything; clothes, accessories, vacations, restaurants. Aside from being a smart shopper, I think it's a way of life. I want people to be empowered to be better shoppers, and to educate themselves where to shop and how to shop.
SS: What are some of your favorite brands to shop at Marshalls? Lilliana: I love to buy all my designer denim at Marshalls. I love jeans but I absolutely refuse to pay $180 for a pair. Some of my favorites are J Brand, Paige, and Joes Jeans. I'm a huge shoe person so I love shopping for Dolce Vita and Sam Edelman.
